Janae Aptaker

Director of Stockton Scholars Program & Strategy

My name is Janae Aptaker, and I have the honor of being the Director of Program and Strategy at Stockton Scholars. I’m passionate about equity in education for BIPOC students and I believe in supporting young people to realize their full potential and voice in the world. I believe in the power of education and mentorship to impact young people’s lives, and I’ve chosen to dedicate my work in cities similar to Stockton including Bed Stuy Brooklyn (pre-gentrification), Hayward, Pomona, and LA. I have personally experienced how both have changed my life trajectory.

When I learned about Stockton Scholars, I knew this organization was the perfect platform to impact individual lives and an entire community. I saw the demographics of Stockton, and I knew that coming to Stockton meant the opportunity to serve BIPOC students on a large scale and make intentional investments into their lives. Our team is made up of almost entirely Stockton born and raised members of this community, who demonstrate every day what it means to be from this great city. I’m proud to raise my children here in the Central Valley.

My vision of success is true equity in education and opportunity for all of Stockton’s young people and across our country.
