Missy Rae Magdalera

College Student Outreach & Retention Officer

Missy Rae Magdalera is a Queer Pinxy activist and native Stocktonian who graduated from Stagg High School. Upon returning to Stockton, Missy served as one of the founding members of the Stockton Trauma Recovery Center where she helped to build mental health and trauma-informed care programs centered on survivors of crime, their stories, and their leadership. She graduated from UC Santa Cruz on 2020 with a two B.A.’s in Feminist Studies (Law, Politics, Social Change) and Critical Race & Ethnic Studies (Education, Human Rights, Youth Movements).

Jorge is a San Joaquin Valley native who gained his education at San Joaquin Delta College and CSU Stanislaus where he focused on Business and Economics. Coming from a minority background and as a first generation college student, Jorge knows the struggles and disparities that today's youth face. He now proudly works with the Stockton Scholars team as the Scholarship Operations and Student Success Manager to help improve systems, create success stories, and truly reinvent Stockton.

Tiffany Dobson

Postsecondary Access & Completion Manager

Tiffany Dobson, MS was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. She graduated from St. Hope’s Sacramento High School in the historic Oak Park neighborhood and went on to graduate with a BA in Sociology from University of California at Davis (Go Ags!) After graduation, Tiffany spent  3 1/2 years in Okinawa Japan where she fell in love with helping other succeed and reach their next level. While in Okinawa Japan, Tiffany also attended Capella University and earned her MS in Social and Community Services. Following the rule - “home is where the Air Force sends us” Tiffany and her family of 5 (including 2 dogs) moved to Jacksonville, AR. While in Arkansas Tiffany realized her spark in college access and equity as an advisor with the TRIO Educational Talent Search program at University of Arkansas - Little Rock where she served students in both Little Rock and Pine Bluff, AR. After moving back to California in 2021 Tiffany continued her TRIO journey as a college advisor with the TRIO Educational Talent Search program at University of California at Berkeley where she served students in Oakland, CA. The opportunity to serve students and guide them as they realize their dreams of a college education, breaking generational barriers, and changing the standard of their future truly speaks to Tiffany’s spark and nature of service. Over the past year of living in Stockton, CA Tiffany proudly calls Mudville home!

Sylvia Gillies, M.Ed, was born and raised in California, Sylvia has spent most of her adult life advocating for Educational Equity & Social Justice for urban youth in various communities. Sylvia brings with her a wealth of knowledge having previously worked with college access and success non-profit organizations and most recently working in various roles at UC Davis Undergraduate Admissions. A Bay Area native, Sylvia likes nature walks especially those that overlook water. When she is not working, she enjoys honing her artist skills in painting.

Dayaneira Jerez is a first-gen student who calls the Bay Area home. She graduated from Chico State University with a Business Administration Marketing degree and Seufferlein Sales certification. Post-graduation she interned as a Product Manager at Tri Counties Bank and then moved to Roseville, CA to work as a Technical Recruiter with a specialization in the Software Engineering space. In her free time she is likely purchasing new plants, playing golf or discovering something new. She's excited to share her experiences and add value to the Stockton Community.
